New Star Restaurant - Elmwood Park

We have not been here in a long time. The restaurant has been remodeled since our last visit. The food is very flavorful, the portions are shareable and you still leave with leftovers. The service couldn't be better. It's a really long ride to get here but I'll be doing it again. The beef kow was tender, the sauce was light and did not hide any flavors. The chicken almond ding had soft chicken, sliced almonds and veggies perfectly cooked. Egg rolls had a hint of peanut that I love.

I've done hibachi at a lot of places. Hands down this was the best food and service ever!!! I'm coming in to edit because I did light the first time. We went at 630 on Vale tines Day. The place was jammed packed with people in line to pick up to go orders and people in line for the restaurant side a d then thr hibachi side. Then, people without reservations trying to do walk in with it already being packed WALL TO WALL !!! I will say this, they should've had someone by the door directing people on where to go. But, I've been to high end steakhouses and restaurants and they would've sank with the crowd last night. So, we got seated at the hibachi and within 2 min they took our drink order. Drinks came out in less than 5 min. Then our food order was took, then out came the salads, then the soups. YES it was a little fast paced- due to they were booked solid with reservations. But, none the less the service was impeccable, the food is now my addiction, the prices are great and at the end of our meal the woman came out with all containers and bags for anything you had left over. I grew up in melose park so I'd go with my parents when I was little. I literally forgot about this hidden gem- now I'll never forget about it. I'm currently trying about 25 min away but I would travel here just for take out. ITS THAT GOOD ! Also, people are not aware that they do have the hibachi, they have sushi and they have Thai food. I will be going back here monthly going back and forth between the hibachi and the restaurant. Oh !!! They also have steaks so it's not your "typical" Cantonese or Chinese restaurant. And it is very clean inside. I just can not say enough about this place

It’s best when dining in but ever since I’ve come across this place I haven’t been any where else for Asian cuisine. I love you can choose Japanese style in the same location. My favs are the egg foo young, miso soup, pineapple chicken, crab rangoons and soft shell crab Staff is always nice and helpful too.

We absolutely loved everything about New Star. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I messed up and forgot to ask our chefs name but he was very funny, and skillful with his tricks. The food tasted wonderful with large portions. Amy, our waitress, was fantastic! She was quick to make sure we had everything we wanted and so kind :) My partner and I will definitely be coming back!

Food was really good. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

The food was incredible, the service exceptional, and the chef's energy was infectious as he prepared a mouthwatering meal for us. The portions were generous, and it was hands-down the best hibachi experience. The chef was very fun, our favorite!

What a great place! Food is phenomenal.... I cannot believe a quart of egg drop soup. Little bit over $3 so was there wonton soup? You're paying over $8 anywhere for a quart of soup. It's one of the best egg drop soups I've had .. went in for their lunch specials. I couldn't believe it. I ordered so much. Food was less than $60. Three entrees at the lunch. Special price and three appetizers... Look forward to going there again

Amazing food and drink choices! Very kid friendly where the staff was very patient with our kids (3 moms 6 kids ) They even gave each kid a toy that kept them entertained the whole time. Sometimes when places have such a big menu quality of food goes down but NOT this place. Everything was amazing! We got sushi and Thai and Chinese food. All amazing 10/10. Service was fast, prices were great and the atmosphere was homey. We will definitely be back to try the hibachi!
